George H.W. Bush, as the 41st president of the USA, played an important role in the end game of the cold war. His politics were also determinant in relation with the Hungarian events of the regime change. His visit to Budapest in July, 1989 was a significant step towards the political changes in Hungary. At the request of the International Centre for Democratic Transition (ICDT), the ex-president, now living in the state of Maine, recalls his most memorable experience and memories about his stay in Hungary at that time.
